About us

A grandson's promise to his grandfather

Md Abdul Malek, grandson of Hazi Mofijuddin Kabiraj, an eminent Ayurvedic doctor of the mid-twentieth century who treated patients free and for charity, founded this social, educational and cultural foundation in his grandfather's memory in 2002.

It began with a literacy campaign among rural families around Babla, Kamalpur, Bhagabatipur, Meherapur, Jote-Gopal Kagmari, Kasim-Bazar, Mothabari, Birampur, Rathbari, Bangitola and Panchanandpur. With the support of the President, Naima Sultana, the foundation then spread education across Uttar Dinajpur and Malda.

Every year it runs health programmes, awareness drives on sanitation, thalassemia and drinking water, a large blood donation camp, and cultural events where school students and local artists perform. In August 2017 it carried out major relief work for severely flood-affected people in Malda and Uttar Dinajpur.
